U14 who won the Harold Moore Shield coached by Richard Watson with manager Nic Shortis

Congratulations to our NSJCA U14 DCA side, who defeated Camden by 1 wicket in their Grand Final on Sunday at Hassell Park to win the Harold Moore Shield for 2017.

This final saw the clash between the top teams from Division 3 and Division 4. Camden won the toss and chose to bat first.  After a solid start, North Shore was able to restrict the Camden total to 109 and set up what appeared to be a very achievable target.

Cricket again proved to be the testing game we know and love when, seemingly cruising at 3 for 89 in reply, North Shore lost 6 wickets for 19 runs during a fantastic Camden fight back.  With 2 runs still required for victory the last pair of Deshan Malalage and Nick Hook came together to settle the nerves of all watching and calmly score the remaining runs required to secure a memorable 1 wicket victory.

This is the third title in four seasons for this team, having previously won the JH Creek Shield in 2014 and the WS Gee Shield in 2016.

Congratulations go to all our DCA teams who represented the North Shore in this inter-association competition with many team and individual achievements and victories.
