In a season wracked by rain, heat-wave and the plagues of COVID, in biblical terms North Shore’s season could be looked upon as a year of some measure of famine after the feast of last season (when all 10 teams made the MYC finals).
But that would be to look at things only skin deep, in a season where:
The girls’ results were particularly impressive given we had split our talent across two teams to give more opportunity for the girls on the North Shore. Interesting to note that other associations declined CNSW’s invitation to also enter two equal sides.
Similarly, our U11 Academy male talent was split across two teams for the President’s Cup to also maximize opportunities for more boys. While these boys did not enjoy the same success as the girls – winning only 3 games in the U11 division 1 competition, our strategy for this age-group has been centred on longer-term gain at the MYC level (as was the case last year), with next season’s U12 squad again looking strong.
Finally, we farewell our U15s teams who completed their Representative journey this season with some representing North Shore for a total of 7 seasons!
With next season’s male trials already completed, the scene looks set for a good preparation ahead of next season and another successful summer of cricket for NSJCA in the Reps season to come.
NSJCA teams who made finals were:
• Mollie Dive Shield for U13 Girls (Team Blue) – finishing 4th
• Cawsey Shield for U12 (Division 1) – finishing 1st
• Foster Shield for U12 (Division 2) – finishing 2nd
Spirt of cricket points
Extremely pleasing this season, North Shore won the CNSW spirit of cricket award which recognizes the Association whose players exhibits the best behavior and show the greatest respect for the game. The award is determined by the umpires who score each team’s behaviour after each game.
North Shore finished the season with an average score of 8.2 (out of 10). This was something we had set our sights on this year after narrowly missing out last year, and I commend the coaches and the players for their exemplary behaviour.
U13G MYC player of the year
The NSJCA would like to congratulate Sam Kuncham (U13 team blue) for winning the Mollie Dive player of the year as voted on by the Umpires. Sam had a brilliant season - scoring 144 runs at an average of 72 and taking 9 wickets at an average of 6.4.
Presidents Cup results
For the second year running we did not win any silverware this season. Our PC teams did not have the best of years with no teams making the finals. Hopefully we will rebound strongly next season.

We would also like to take this opportunity to formally announce the NSJCA Representative players of the year for season 2020/21:
